Six weeks of careful surveillance can be undone by one photo nobody can place, one note with no time on it, or one document that arrived by fax from a source you cannot vouch for.
The weak link is what gets found, and it is what the whole file gets judged by. Case Log records every piece so it can stand on its own, and stays honest about which pieces are yours and which were handed to you.
Written once, never rewritten
The record is append-only and hash-chained. Nothing is edited in place, so a change to what was already written does not go unnoticed.
Three kinds of truth
What you witnessed, what you wrote up later, and what someone handed you are three different things. Case Log keeps them apart instead of flattening them into one undifferentiated pile of evidence.
Corrections stay honest
Fixing a mistake, adding something newly learned, and correcting a machine transcript are recorded as three separate acts. An investigator whose every later thought reads as a correction has a problem they did not earn.
Signed by a person
A hash proves a record is unchanged. It does not prove who wrote it. Entries are signed with a key held in the device’s secure hardware, so authorship is established rather than assumed.
Claims stay inside the evidence
The report says what can be honestly asserted and no more. When you took delivery of a document and its hash at that moment are things you can stand behind. When it was created, and whether it is true, are not.
Your case never leaves your desk
No cloud, no account, no server holding your work.
There is no sync service to trust, because there is no sync service. Cases live encrypted on your own devices. Moving one from your phone to your Mac happens over the cable, on a connection that refuses to run over Wi-Fi at all.
Transcription runs on the device. Nothing is sent away to be processed, and there is no cloud to fall back to when the local path is inconvenient.
Exporting is deliberately plain: a folder of files, readable with ordinary tools, that verifies on its own. If our app disappeared tomorrow, your record would still stand up.
People whose notes get read by someone else
Private investigators, insurance and fraud investigators, inspectors, adjusters, accident reconstruction, field researchers and journalists. Anyone whose documentation has to survive being questioned.
Case Log documents your own work and observations. It is a record of what you did and saw, not a tool for collecting information about other people without their knowledge.
Being built, in the open
